I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport.Sometimes when I take my jeep out of four wheel drive it will make a large clunking noise (like something is falling off from under the car or like I hit a pothole). It usually doesn't make that noise for 10-15 seconds later. I've noticed if I put the jeep in four wheel for a short like (like going up a steep hill-maybe 20 seconds), then it doesn't do it. It will mostly do it when I have it in four wheel drive for longer periods such as 5 minutes or longer. I'm not sure if the outside temperature helps contribute to whether it "sticks"/"delays" or not. I've heard it could be a transmission or something worse. Could you tell me what you think is wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.
