What is the height off stairs to hang candle wall sconces going up the stairs?

Up to you, mount the light so it will not be an obstacle.

High enough so that you can change it without a ladder or falling. Don't hang it at all on a staircase if someone might bump into it. Be sure it's easily removable too, for any furniture moving.
