We hired a handy man to replace wall and pipes adjoining our leaking bathroom and laundry room.took him a while to finish but when
He was done and water heater was put back there was no hot water anymore.during the course of his job he has taken out and put back water heater with no problem and when he closed the walls everything was OK hot water still coming out .we hired another handy man due to old handy man asking
A lot of money every time he turns.now we purchased a new water heater and is now connected but we still have no hot water for the 3rd day please help it is veryyyycold

I realize plumbers are expensive but handy men aren't plumbers.
What doesn't this heater do? Get gas to the pilot? The pilot lights but not the burner? Natural gas or Propane? Is the correct orifice in the burner? What's your handy man say?> Back to you, Tom

All is working fine and it's natural gas ,pilot is on and burning flames are all good hope handy man comes back I can get a plumber however it was a Saturday and no one wanted to come also when u say orifice what and where is this located :( sorry and thanks for the reply

Sounds like the water heater's doing its job. You do get cold water about of the hot water taps, correct? Are there heat traps (see images) installed at the heater connections? Are there an y more details that you can furnish? Back to you, Tom

Yes there is a heat trap and it's hot when I feel it but the tank and the hot water hose is not or are they suppose to be like that

Try removing the heat traps and let me know if that helps. Tom

I did I also notice that the place where the new heater was put on is wet not that wet but it is wet that heat trap is hot I took it out just in cas you are wondering the tank is whirlpool sensa. 50 gal . The tank is not hot at all and I turned the know from very hot to low will that affect any

Open a inspection port and see if the insulation's damp. See if you can find the source of the wetness.
Is the tank warm? How about from the taps. Cold or luke warm? Let me know, Tom

What hose? Do mean the hot water pipe coming out of the heater? Top and bottom of what?

YOU HAVE TO locate the source of the leak and repair it before we can go on. Pressure leaks don't heal themselves they only get worse.
Are the heat traps steel nipples or copper? You have a situation that's been caused by your handy man and it may take a regular plumber to straighten it out. But that leak's got to be repaired before anything else is done. Look at the inlets. Any water pooling there? Back to you, Tom

Ok I guess it's time to make calls and see who can come out this Sunday thank you so much and I'll post updates

Since you have more then one problem that would be your wisest choice. There is a white plastic dip tube located under the cold water inlet. If heat were applied to the cold water fitting it could have melted the plastic flange securing the tube causing it to fall into the tank.. That should be checked out. Good luck and keep me informed.
