    Dual Residency for Tuition Purposes
I'm applying to colleges in North Carolina, but I currently reside in Georgia with my father. If custody of me is split between my father and grandmother, who lives in NC, can I claim dual residency? I was born and lived in North Carolina for 16 years. I'm a little less than an hour away from the state line, and I spend a lot of time there. Please help me figure this out.

Who is the custodial parent (the one your assigned the most time to) that may be the one you qualify for residency under. Also Georgia is supposed to have a good scholarship program going from lottery profits.

Check with the college, but I suspect you will find that they don't recognize "dual residency". You either are a NC resident (which would, since you are a minor, probably be the residence of your custodial parent), or not.
