    Ca sui/sdi tax
    Hello,

I am an international student on my OPT and work for a semiconductor company in California. I am being charged ca sui/sdi tax from all my paychecks. I was wondering if it is mandatory for us to pay it to the government? Do I expect to get it back when I file my tax returns next year. Is it a fix percentage or does it vary with the income bracket? What percent does it make of the cash we get in hand?

    Thanks
    Manish

    Manish:

I believe that it is a fixed percentage. I also believe that you must pay it even if you are an international student.

A phone call to the California Franchise Tax Board should get you a definite answer!
