Is furnace using electric or propane?
On the thermostat of our Carrier 8000 weather maker, it shows E.heat and or Aux heat. Does this mean the propane has been bypassed and we are now using all electric for heat? We would love to get rid of propane and just use electric.

If the red light shows E heat or Aux heat that means that it is using the propane for heat.if you switch the switch off aux heat it might run on electricity all the time. But it may switch auto to Aux heat.

Could depend on how it is wired. Best thing to do is to go to the furnace and check if you can see flames through the air intake or hear it burning. If so, the propane is running. If you have a heat pump, and the outside unit is running, you are using electricity. Heat pumps don't work very well much below 30 degrees. You might better let the propane run at that time.

If you are not sure if you have a heat pump, check the sticky at the top of the heating forum.
