Why won't my logs light in my gas fire place?
The logs in the gas fire place won't light. The fire place is lit but the flame isn't high enough. It is a blue line but the flame isn't visible from a normal couch view? We have turned the gas on as high as it will go. How do we get more pressure or etc?

    Thank you

The logs won't acutally lite, they normally will only glow were the flame is touching them. I would suggest having getting a trained gas fireplace tech into look the system over, check pressures, shutters, etc. Just know that many gas fireplaces just don't really give off a good looking large flame. Normally, the longer you run the fireplace, the more yellow the flame will become, but that really all depends on the exact fireplace you have.

Is this a new issue or has the flame always been low? Is this a new or old log?

Propane or natural gas log? If low flame, I suspect that you have propane. These logs almost never have a high, beautiful flame, whereas, natural gas logs tend to have higher and prettier flames... ;)

Let us know more, but most likely the best bet is to do as MGD77 suggested and get a qualified tech. in to see what they think, OK?

    Back to you...

My gas logs will not light. The pilot light will not light

As long as the ignitor is sparking and you are following the directions to light the pilot properly then my guess would be that the pilot THERMOCOUPLE (or thermopile) is defective and needs to be replaced.

If you want to discuss more just let me know, OK?
