    Thirst and pregnancy
My cousin just found out she's pregnant. Before she found out she was pregnant, she always felt thirsty. Is thirst a symptom of pregnancy? She says she still drinks more water than she did before becoming pregnant. I've never heard of thirst being a symptom. Or is there possibly something else going on with her?.

It could just be that her body was in need of liquids. If she wasn't having that much to drink in the first place, and then became pregnant, her body could have just really needed it.

It might be something she wants to ask her ob/gyn(she should always ask her doc about any concerns with her pregnancy) however, I think that it is pretty normal. When you're pregnant, your need for liquids increases quite a bit. Anytime you get thirsty(pregnant or not) it is your body signalling a need for liquids. But as I said, she might want to ask her doctor, just in case. ( if she has an increased thirst, but a reduced need to urinate, or hasn't urinated all day long. In this case, she needs to contact her doctor immediately)

She's going in for a check up next week I think. I'll tell her to make sure to ask!
