How does one get HepC?
By intimate contact with carriers or those with acute disease; sexual and oral-oral (kissing) contact. Blood transfusions and sexual contact, sharing needles (drug use), unsterile tattoo needles.

Without treatment there is increased risk of chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis or liver cancer. Alcohol and medications that metabolize in the liver should be avoided.

Standard treatment is typically two antiviral agents called interferon (Intron-A) and ribavirin (Rebatol) are effective in producing improvement in people with HepC and in treating relapses.

How do you find out if you have it? A blood test. This is the only way to know if one has HepC. It is a lifelong illness and there currently is no cure. But please understand that it is not deadly unless left untreated.
