Can you power on a laptop through a USB port remotely?
I would like to find a way to turn on laptops without having to open them up and hit power button. No docking station connections. Can I use a usb remote to power on a laptop. I assume that without power on the port to start it can't be done? Maybe a receiver with a battery in it?

It may be possible using the laptop's power management features. Check the laptop's BIOS setup for wake options related to USB port activity. If you are using Windows, device manager power management options for the hub the remote is connected to or the device itself may need to be fiddled with too.

Okay, thanks. I think that wake features would only work if the laptop is in sleep mode? I need to wake it up from a no power state. I will get one and try a few different configs. If I can get it to work I will let you know how I did it.
