I have a Kenmore 70 series Dryer, it's model/stock number is 67732791 67732. Last night I dried clothes everything was fine, this morning I tried and about fell over in fright when it made this god awful squeaking noise, I couldn't shut it off fast enough. I am not sure its turning good either. I heard some noise in it when I tried to turn the insede myself and I think there is some loose pocket change stuck in one of the arms inside. Im not sure that the change is causing any problems. I thought I was smelling a light burning smell also but I didn't leave the dryer running long anough to find out! Please help I have four kids and a husband that changes clothes like a girl! Laundry is piling up quick!

These driers will do that when the lint builds up like concrete on the inside of the air ducts. You need to totally tear it down and scrape out and wash all of the parts except the motor, which you vacuum out. You can go to YouTube to see videos on how to take it apart, but do a very good job or it will fail again quickly. I would get a new belt and change it while you have it apart and get some white lithium grease and grease any bearings you find, but you will most likely have to replace the drum bearing because once you have let it get out of grease and dirty the bearing is ruined. It's not a hard job to do, but you have to be very thorough in cleaning it and careful the bearing stays in position when you re-assemble it. You will need white lithium grease and a new belt, also you may need new support rollers for the drum. It's an easy job. DrTom4444

These dryers do not have a "drum bearing? There are three rollers that the drum rides on. The rollers wear out and cause the drum to shift and drag. Lint does build up but if the duct work is in good condition a simple vacuum cleaning will clean out anything that could possibly ignite. A little trick I learned a long time ago is to take the filter out every month or so and wash it with dish detergent and water. Rinse very well. Dryer sheets(Bounce,Downy Fabric Softener,etc) have a substance that will clog the lint filter. If you take it out and run a little water into it, you will see that it HOLDS WATER!! That will prevent proper air flow and cause over heating and much longer drying times.

I have never seen a dryer cleaned out of the deposits by a little vacuuming unless it is new. It takes a lot of scraping to get all of the deposits off the duct work because it sticks like concrete on the walls. I have not seen that particular dryer, but I know what you mean about the rollers. DrTom4444
