    Car battery and engine lights
I have a 2003 Ford Taurus. My car battery light just came on. My engine light stays on. What is the problem? I had auto zone check the engine light and they said it was a loose gas cap. Cap won't tighten.

The battery light means the Alternator is not providing enough amperage. Loose connections, bad belt, bad alternator, possible bad battery. Have AutoZone check it out. If cap won't tighten, replace the cap, the threads may be crossed, a fairly common problem with plastic caps.

Thank you very much. I will have all these checked out by my mechanic.
