Both, in the start there is nothing wrong with dating many people at a time, since many you may only date once or twice and not feel any connection.

After time you may find one or one you want to date exclusive.

I agree with Fr_Chuck. So long as there aren't any pretences when you're dating multiple people, it's fine.
