My relationship is over, I have moved into my 16year old sons room . My name is on a joint tenancy along with my ex . Friends tell me I have more right over house than he does but don't know how to persuade him to leave. I am not in financial position to rent privately therefore I'm my best interest to stay put.

Get a lawyer. You don't have more of an interest in the house. Whoever told you that was wrong. Also should you end up staying in the house he can charge you rent. Plus your still responsible for any loans that your name is on associated with the home. You need to rethink your planning. Talk to a lawyer and find out what your best move may be.
