I was running the water to wash dishes this morning, I hadn't put the stopper in yet and I noticed a flood of water coming from underneath the kitchen cabinet. I turned the water off and checked underneath the piping in the inside of the cabinet there was no wet spots nor was there any leaks to the pipe. I ran the water again to see if I could pinpoint where it was coming from no luck. I got the wet vac got the water up and decided to check what happens when running the water in the bathroom. I ran the tub water and the water started flooding n the bathroom. I checked the pipe in the bathroom and noticed that the pip coming from the ground was overflowing with water. My husband snaked the pipe however every time we run the water from either the kitchen or bathroom the flood of water continues. There is no problem when flushing the water in the toilet just all the sinks. At this point I do not know what is going on I can tell it is something with the pipe in the ground but unsure why it is still flooding. Any suggestions..

How old is your house? Tell me more about this "open pipe". Is it capped? Where does this pipe connect to? Are you on a slab or do you have a basement? Any more details you can give us? Back to you Tom

My house is maybe 30 or more years old, the open pipe in the floor does not have a cap or anything on it.. it is just open I can see the water sitting in it. I do not have a basement I am on a slab.

I checked the pipe I mentioned it is in the bathroom floor however it is not connected to anything. There is not other pipe connected to it. I am assuming that it is somehow connected to the kitchen and bathroom pipes underground but I cannot see anything above. Also, I just flushed the toilet and now that seems to cause the pipe to overflow. I keep draining the pipe with the wet vac to keep the water from flooding but still not sure what is going on with this pipe.

First off. Cap that pipe! You are correct, it connects under the slab to the sewer line and when it's left open it allows sewer gas to enter your home. Sewer gas's is harmful to your families health and then methane content makes it explosive. CAP THE PIPE!
Since the clog seems to be downstream from the open pipe you can snake the line from there. Good luck, Tom

Capping as pipe is a simple operation that any homeowner can do. If you tell me what material the pipe is made of I can better help you, I would suggest that you cap the pipe with a threaded removal cap and use that pipe for a clean out access. Good luck, Tom
