Righ-click on the desktop, and select properties. At the desktop tab, go to advance, and place a checkbox beside My Computer.
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, My Computer is greyed out in that screen (the other desktop items are OK). He must have done something to make My Computer inaccessible. He doesn't remember what he did. Any ideas?
Is "My Computer" on the start menu?
Go to Powertoys for Windows XP and download and install tweakUI.exe.
If worst comes to worst, you'll need to do some registry editing, Google is your friend here :)
If it still shows up on the Start menu, right click it and Check off Show on Desktop.
