    Heated walkway and driveway
I live in MN and just bought a house. I want to heat my driveway and walkway and is wondering if there is a way to do it without having to bust out my driveway and walkway to do it.

I was planning to just run some strips down the sides of the driveway and allow conduction to spread across the driveway and walkway.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated by my Fiancˇe before I start testing out ideas.
    Thanks

Won't happen in MN. The heat will disapate before it gets the temp to 32. It may work along the immediate 1" but that's about all.

I agree with ma0641. One idea is to utilize an electric radiant heat system installed on your existing slab... Over which you will pour a polyurethane coating to protect the heat mat. I quite frankly have never done this but have considered doing so on one of my properties. Even in MN you do not need all that much heat to keep the driveway clear of snow and ice... I believe that 5 watts per square foot would do the job.

But having said all of that, you will need proper drainage of the water as you will at that point no longer be removing the snow/ice/water via shovel/snowblower. You will have to have a means for which the water can drain.
