My boobs have been hurting for the past week. My period is not due for another 10 days. I tood a pregnancy test tonight and it came backk negative. Is it too early to tell? What could be other reasons than pregnancy? Not only are they sore they are swollen too.

It is likely that it was too early to test. Some tests will have some accuracy a few days before a period is due, but the tests are more accurate once a period is already missed. This is because it can take awhile for enough hcg, the hormone associated with pregnancy, to be at a level high enough to be picked up. Tests vary in their sensitivity as well.

The soreness may simply be due to hormone changes as your body prepares for your period. Hormone levels fluctuate throughout each cycle, and sometimes you can experience something you don't normally feel.
