Harbor Breeze - changed switch and now not working
I changed the flip switch with a standard dimmer switch. It worked briefly, but not very well. After a few hours the light (and fan) stopped working. I replaced the dimmer switch with the original switch, but that did not help. I fliped the wires to make sure that wasn't the issues - still noting. Is there something that needs to be reset?

    Thanks

Motors are not designed to be run through a dimmer, " but not very well", that's why they have 3 or 4 speeds. You may have burned it out and/or wiring associated with it. Might be an expensive lesson to learn.

I agree with ma, dimmer is a big no-no for a fan. It is likely cooked beyond reasonable repair.

Dimmers are for incandescent lights, (not even for CFL's) so likely fan is fried. Reostats are for motor controls. When shopping for your new fan, look for a fan control, and this will take care of any future problems.
