So, according to my friend I am pretty loveable, so I do not understand why certain friends of mine always make me feel awkward when they are with guys around. Like, they treat me as if I am their little pet, or like I am 4 years old. Acting like they are closer to me than they are or something. I'm sick of being treated as if I am some awkward turtle in the room. Why are my friends doing this to me around guys? I don't understand it. I'm just a nice girl trying to figure out why I am being treated as though something were wrong?

You are most likely prettier and smarter than your friends and they don't want to compete with you so they eliminate you as a threat by demeaning you.

Because you are allowing them to, either find friends that will give you the respect you deserve, or have a real conversation with them and demand to be treated equally.

You need a better class of friends, these are more like acquaintances, or hangout buddies.

True friends don't change when they are around different groups, or people.
