    Ask chemistry questions?
I am an artist that wants to create a chemical reaction on a sheet of acetate ohp paper for a project on textures.

When researching acetate sheets it would seem to me that I need an acetone to create this kind of melting/degradation on the sheet. However, I tried nail varnish remover (which I believe to be an acetone) and nothing happened.

Am I not using a strong enough acetone or do I need to use a different chemical altogether?

    Thanks!

I think acetone should work. Are you sure that the nail-polish remover was acetone based? I think a lot of modern formulations are acetone-free for health reasons.

Here in the US, acetone is available at most home improvement stores (in the paint section).
