    If you know who the biological father is, you can ask him to give up his rights, he is still the father. Check with you state social service dept if you do not know who the father is, they may be able to guide you.

    With no father on the birth certificate, this actually becomes harder. Most areas require that the father consent to an adoption. This means you will have to dientify any potential fathers, find them and get them to submit to a test to determine paternity then have them consent.

    You have to, at least, make a good faith effort to contact the father for his consent.

    Since you really should retain an attorney to prepare the adoption petition, you can have the attorney develop a strategy for attempting to get the bio father's permission.
