    Earring down drain
Hi, my diamond earring fell down the bathroom sink drain on Saturday and it is now Thursday and was wondering if you think it could still be in the trap in the sink? I have been using the sink for washing my hands and brushing my teeth. We have a new construction townhome and have plastic pipes under the sink. Also, if you think it is and we have a chance at getting it out do we shut off the water before trying to open the pipes in the sink? Thank you

If the earring was heavy enough it MIGHT still be down in the "J" bend. Your big mistake was in running water in the lavatory and taking a chance on flushing the earring out into the main. Remove the "J" bend from the trap and pour the waterout. If your earring's still there, (which I doubt) it will come out with the water. Good luck, Tom
