    Credit cards
My husband's grandmother is deceased. Credit card is closed but the credit card company is asking to pay $265. My husband is on his grandmother's credit card. Can the credit card company file action against my husband if he does not pay the amount due?

    Hello Sunset:

Yes. It's a joint credit card. One of the persons is still alive (your husband), and they have every right to collect from him. They don't know who charged what, and they don't care.

No, they will have to file a claim against the estate.

What if there is no Estate. She didn't leave property behind. Credit card company said they are going to file action. We asked for a copy of the credit card statement showing the charges but they said statements are sent for deceased people but he wants us to trust his word and pay the charges. Isn't that illegal for them to ask someone to pay without a statement? Furthermore, grandmother is deceased and he is not on the credit card. Can they take my husband to court or hurt me anyway?

They cannot take him to court, if they try, countersue them.
