One day, I think I may go to theology school. Learn about ALL faiths and religion. I love to learn about all of it so much, no matter which faith it is!

So anyway,

I want someone to PROVE to me that Jesus is GOD. I am totally devout to God and love Jesus with all my heart. So please do not mistake me for mocking God or Jesus.

I want to hear biblical proof. Verses that say Jesus is GOD. Verse where HE says that He is God. Any verses in which GOD says Jesus is God. Any of these.


(if you can't tell, I love learning. Please don't think I am trying to start arguments)

Also, If he is God, why did God not just tell us. Why did He not just say 'believe in me and you will be saved of your sins'

God did all through the Old Testament, but they didn't, so God decided to send Jesus to live a perfect life as a man, die on the cross, and be the perfect sacrifice to reunite man with God.

But one question, I always thought that Matt. 2:2, The magi says 'so we can bring gifts to him' not 'so we can worship him' that's one thing that threw me off. I guess I was remembering wrong, or I was taught wrong maybe. But I googled lol and that's the only translation that comes up is 'worship him'

Oooo you know what good point, God did spend most of the first Testament trying to get people to listen huh?

I have never understood when people claim that Jesus never stated He was God or the Messiah... they clearly need to actually read the Bible ;)

Mark 14:61-62

My favorite passage where clearly Jesus told the pharisees he was God is in John 8.

Basically Jesus tells them that Abraham rejoiced to see the day Jesus came and he saw it and was glad. The Pharisees told him he wasn't yet fifty and how could he have known Abraham. Jesus says so perfectly and clearly to those Jews... that before Abrahm was, I AM.

Those Jewish pharisees knew EXACTLY what Jesus meant. He used the name of God, I AM. They picked up stones right there to stone him they were furious.

So Jesus said it loud and clear. But there are other places as well. That just happens to be my personal favorite.

Um... hunting helper? I didn't see anything in there saying he claimed to be God. I saw him say he TRUSTED God, I saw him say 'I am the son of god'

But I have yet to see in the bible him come out and say 'I am God' Or 'Worship Me'

ClassyT That's another one that confuses me. So many believe that Gods name is I AM. But I never heard of him say 'My name is I AM" or something like that. He says 'I am what I am' I can say that too, it doesn't mean my NAME is I AM literally, it basically means he is what he is, and that won't change.

Gold told moses when moses ask who he should tell Pharoh who sent him. God said to tell Pharoh I AM that I AM sent you. I AM is one of the names of God in the OT. He is the Great I AM. This is the EXACT reason the pharisees wanted to stone Jesus. It made no sense for Jesus to answer the Pharisees with before Abraham was, I AM. Who says that? He was stating clearly he was GOD. He always WAS. Why else would they pick up stones? That to those Jews was pure blasphemy. Those Jewish pharasees knew the names of God, they KNEW the OT. They got it his meaning loud and clear.

He also says that He and the Father are one. I don't know how much more clear he could be.

John 1:1 wrote in his gospel... in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Then he clearly defines who the WORD was in verse 14... and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Oh here is another one... when Jesus tells the man brought to him on a stretcher through the roof of the house he was teaching in... he says your sins are forgiven you! Oh! The pharasees had a cow!. they were like who but GOD can forgive sin. AND they were right! Remember they KNEW the OT.. what they said was true. It is true to this day! ONLY GOD can forgive sins. But Jesus told them so you know that the son of man has the authority to forgive sins he told the man to get up and walk. He said it over and over. AND if you really understood the OT like those pharisees did... it wouldn't be hard to or confusing.

Oh, how about this... doubting Thomas he refused to believe Jesus was alive until he saw with his own eyes and felt with his own hands the nail print. When Jesus appeared and showed Thomas... what was his response? Thomas replied.. my LORD and my GOD. Jesus would have NEVER let someone worship him and call him GOD if it weren't so. He was perfect.

God could call himself Mike or Bob or Fred, but any human given name like that just doesn't begin to say who he is. Therefore, he simplifies it for us to "I AM" which in Latin is "esse," from which comes the word "essence." God is the essence of everything good -- intelligence, truth, beauty, justice, love, kindness, peace, joy. God is the great I AM and everything we yearn for, everything we yearn to be.

Sorry but you are asking the impossible. I've dealt with this in other threads. No one can prove that Jesus was God, the son of God or whatever. Just as no one can prove that he wasn't. No one can prove that God exists, just as no one can prove that he doesn't.

There is clearly a good deal of evidence that leads people to believe in God, in Jesus (or in Allah, Buddhah etc.). There is also plenty of evidence that leads people to not believe in God or a God.

The true fact in all this is that the belief in God or a god is a matter of faith. People look at the evidence and decide whether to believe or not as matter of faith in that evidence.

No if you had posed the question as; I want someone to CONVINCE me that Jesus is God, there is no shortage of people are willing to try. Who can cite Biblical sayings and present other evidence or research. But when you cut through all of it, it all comes done to Faith. Faith in the sayings and teachings of the Bibles. Faith that what the Bibles say happened really happened in the way the Bibles relate.

Faith is a powerful thing!

Another example of Jesus claiming to be God is in John 10:30, where he said "I and the Father are one." Lots of folks have tried to explain it away, but the people listening knew exactly what he meant. They picked up stones again, intending to stone him to death. He asked them which of his good works they were stoning him for. They said, "it's not for a good work but for blasphemy, because you, a man, are making yourself God."

It doesn't get much plainer than that.

Fair enough because it IS by faith that I believe the bible to be absolute truth. Having said that, I can prove by the bible that Jesus said he was God. Whether someone accepts the bible as the truth... well that takes faith.
