    Why after 3 years?
Why would an old flame that dumped me 3 years ago send a friend request to me when he is in a relationship, or so it says on Facebook?

May be something is missing in her current relationship, that guy doesn't loves her back the way you used to and now she is realising it. So she again wants to get in touch with you.. as she dumped you, she never took you seriously but now when she is not really satisfied in her current situation she thinks of the importance she used to get from you.

Would you say that it was a mistake to accept the friend request? To me I hurt so much from this loss that I have never dated since. I don't want that hurt again. I guess it reopens hurt that I have somewhat put to rest. How would you handle this?

Reject his friendship request. Why suffer with the unknown?

Is possible because he wants his number of friends on Facebook to go up by 1. Why don't you ask him what his intentions are? You are over thinking this. Just forget about the ex, block his account, and continue living your life the way you have done after that relationship ended, why involve yourself with something you don't need to?

I agree with everyone... u should unfriend him! But just for the curiosity sake.. u can once message him and ask his intentions, if you are OK with the explanation he gives you can continue being his friend and if you feel that the explanation was not fair enough you can delete him from your friend list right away or might be anytime later.. when you feel he is taking advantage of the situation.

Look, he dumped you as a girlfriend.. now it's your turn you can dump him as a friend( If you find out his intentions aren't good enough). It's a ego booster.. u'll enjoy dumping the guy who dumped you :)
