    Getting Married in a Courthouse?
    My fiancˇ and I Live in Gloucester, Va. We just want to get married at the courthouse but don't know where to begin for it, nor do we know where to get a justice of the peace to marry us?

    Fee: $30 (cash, check, or money order)
    ID: Driver license
    Who Must Be Present to Apply: Both bride and groom together
    Who Signs: Bride and groom
    Waiting Period: None
    Valid for: 60 days
    Valid Out of Municipality: Yes, but not out of state.
    If Previously Married: Know dates and locations of divorce or death. No documents required.

    You get your marriage license. When you do that, you ask them for the judges schedule on when they do the weddings.
    They can tell you if appointment is needed, and what times and days they do the weddings. It is normally done in the judges office, not courtroom. There is a fee, please ask.

    Also there are pastors who will do weddings in their home or in your home. Often if you go to the pastors home, it may be even cheaper than the court house. I know here in Atlanta I do them for 50 dollars in my home, the court house charges 100 dollars for the judge to do the service.
