Hooking up my gas furnace to my generator.
All I want to run in my house from my 3500 watt generator is my gas furnace blower 1/4 HP motor. Can I unhook the 3 wires (black, white, and bare copper)from my electric panel on the furnace circuit and wirenut them to a heavy duty pigtail and plug this into an extension cord from my genrator. I may plug a few low energy lights directily into an extension cord from generator

Yes it is possible to do that though a little more work than the "easy fix" I have in the past wired up my 5500w generator with a dryer plug. Unplugged the dryer and plugged in the generator.. then I went to my breaker box and turned off every breaker that I didn't need. It worked wonderfully

Is illegal per National Electric Code and every electric utility in the USA.

To power a panel from a generator, there must be a manual or automatic transfer switch or circuit breaker interlock, to prevent the chance of sending power back out onto the grid.
