I have a house I flipped and during the flip process all of the plumbing above ground was replaced. We used the water and toilets for about two months while we were working there with no issues. 2 days after we sold it and the home owners moved in the sewer backed up through the floor drain, toilet and shower in the basement. A plumber was called out 3 times. Once he rotored the drain and found one root ball that he said was very small he siad there were no other problems all was good. The problem came back two days later. They came out again and ran a camera through the drain and found standing water in the drain at a clean out just outside the house. He found nothing else and said that this was not the issue. The problem did not go away. He then came out again and cameraed the toilet in the basement and found nothing. He did say that all of the pipe is orange burg. I called another plumber and told him all of this and he siad the best thing that could be done is to dig up the low spot and fix it. He dug up a 10 foot section and replaced it. He said that a small section of the pipe was collapsed from underneath due to a root. He said that the whole line from the toilet to the street is level but that it should drain now. This worked for three days. The homeowners just called and siad that the sewer is backing up in the tub still. Not sure what to do now. The tub is the furthest drain from the street and is inline with the downstairs toilet. What do you think? What would happen if the tub had negative fall from the toilet. The homeowners state that they can hear a gurgling noise upstairs when they flush the toilet. The plumber said that if the problem did not go away that the only other option was to put in a holding tank pump it out to the street that is only thirty feet away.
