We need my mother-in-law off the deed!
My question is simple and quite frankly probably silly to all of you... but I need to get my mother-in-law off our deed. She is on it with my husband but has NO monetary obligation to the property. THe mortgage is in my husbands name only. I know that we have to quit claim her off, but my question is there has been an agreement from the start of this whole mess (long story and not needed lol) that she would come off it once she fulfilled her obligation. Now that she has done so, she has been dragging her feet for almost a year. Are we now at her mercy? Do we have any legal leverage to get her off? The only thing we have in regards to our agreement is a typed up and signed agreement that the two of them wrote together. Will that stand up in a legal battle? If I need to clarify more, don't hesitate to ask... I will explain all. THanks for your help in advance!

    Hello mom:

I don't see why it wouldn't. Of course, you could get a lawyer to force the issue. Since she's your mother-in-law, write her a nice letter asking her to do what she said she would do, or you will be forced to retain a lawyer.

    Hopefully, that'll get her attention.
