I've been bleeding for some months now and sometimes it's light then at other times it's heavy.Do you have any ideas on what could be going on?

There are a number of possibilities, your age, uterine polyps, hormonal changes, etc. You will need to see your doctor to have it checked out. They will start with a pelvic exam and an ultrasound.
