There is a judgement against me however it is for approx $3200 more than the original balance. I want to ask for a verification of the debt but I'm not sure if that will help me. Any advise is welcomed

No, you can ask for verification of a debt you are working on before they get a judgement. You can and should ask for verification after you are served and require them to produce the proof in court.

After they get a judgement, the amount you owe has been approved by the court, if it is wrong, at the court hearing is when you dispute it.

But you will have late fees, court fees, interest and attorney fees all added to what you owed when they go though court and get a judgement.
