I have an Old Apartment, Where the washing machine hose, runs directly into the bath tub, I had an incident over the weekend, where I did a load of washing, and forgot to put the house in the bath, the water flooded onto the floor, and leaked Thu, to the apartment below. Woodard's is tiring to hit me up with the bill for the electrician and plumber or who came out on an emergency call out. Am I liable or is Woodard's for not supplying me with proper plumbing facility's where the water should drain out into a sink.

2nd question./ why does the building leak. There is solid concrete under the floor boards.

Question #2 first, its easiest. Concrete buildings are not water tight, they just look that way but leak through the many seams and cracks. Even a concrete swimming pool is not totally water tight. #1, sorry, this was your negligence since you knew and accepted that hose arrangement. " and forgot to put " says it all, you forgot. Wish I had better news.

You are at fault for the damage you caused and if taken to court you will lose plus have to pay for the court filing fees and attorney's fees if they retain an attorney. Blaming the landlord for not having the proper drainpipe is a very lame excuse, almost as lame as your forgetting to put the hose drain into the sink. I am surprised that your landlord even permitted you to have a washing machine in your apartment not having the proper plumbing available for the run off water.

And don't you have renter's insurance to cover this?
