    HELP! Sick puppy!
I took my 9 week old puppy to the vet yesterday after she started vomiting profusely. He ruled out parvo and put her on an antibiotic. She will not eat a bite and I have to water her with a dropper. The only vet around here is closed until Monday. What do I do? She is still vomiting and has not had a bowel movement in 24 hours. Please help!

Did the vet test for worms? Why would he prescribe an antibiotic for vomiting? What did the vet say was the problem? When you call the office do you get a recording directing you to call the vet's cell phone to speak to him? I can't believe a vet would not have such an emergency notification available to his patients. If you can, go and get a bottle of Pedialite and give that to the puppy via eye dropper. This will help rehydrate the puppy or the puppy can quickly die of dehydration from vomiting.

If the puppy is not eating, then naturally it's not going to have a lot of energy. Try and feed a diet that you cooked.. Such as browned hamburger and rice or boiled chicken and rice. Feed it warm, not cold so that the oils from the meat will be more enticing for the pup.

The pedialyte is a good idea. You can also try gatoraid.

Let her eat then leave her alone. See if that helps her keep things down if she eats then goes to sleep. Sick dogs do sleep a lot, so use it in your favor to try and get her to keep food down then call the vet asap on Monday.

I gave her the pedialite with a dropper. I also called the 24 hour clinic in a neighboring town, and the tech told me that if she is still vomiting tomorrow, I need to bring her in. I will try the chicken and rice. Initially, the vet thought it was a bacterial infection, hence the antibiotic. He also gave her a shot to stop the vomiting, but it has eased only a little.

Puppy won't eat. Vomits anything she does.
I took my 9 week old pup to the vet yesterday after she started vomiting profusely. The vet ruled out parvo. He gave her a shot and put her on an antibiotic for a bacterial infection. She is still vomiting. I have had to water her with an eye dropper. She won't eat dog food, so I fed her a small amount of chicken breast. She kept it down for about 15 minutes, then threw it back up. I don't know what to do with her. Every vet in my area is closed and unavailable. Please help!

Is this the same pup you gave Pedialyte to? Read this and you do not need to start a new thread every time you want to ask/say something. Just go to the blank box at the bottom and type away. Dog Dehydration
