I am on my probation. Can I travel overseas?
I just got DWI on Jun 2011. I am on probation since then and have Japanese passport and green card. My boyfriend is Canadian and he is going back to Canada for New Years. He wants me to come up there but I am not sure if my US DWI record show on my Japanese passport and since I am on my probation, I am not sure I can come back to the state with my green card etc... If somebody have this experience or idea, please let me know. Thanks T

First since you are on probation, normally you are not suppose to even travel outside the US state you are living in without permission from the PO officer.

But you will need to talk to your PO and get written permission to travel outside the US on this trip

You may not even be able to enter Canada. And should you leave the US and your PO finds out about this you will be violated. You may not be able to reenter the US once you do leave. The Green Card will not ensure your ability to reenter the US, it is just used for employment purposes.

Best not toleave the States without written permission from your PO. You would need a good reason (and not just to spend New Year's in Canada) for yous PO to even grant such permission. I don't see that happening here. Don't go.

Thanks for a reply to my question to both of you. I was going to ask my PO about this next appointment with him. I am Japanese and I do travel on my Japanese passport. I was wonder this DWI I got in US affect to my Japanese passport history. This is new to me so trying to get much info as much as I can. Thx

It goes on your ID, so when your ID is ran at the border it will show up. Your largest fear is not the coming and going as much as the PO finding out you went and you ending up in jail.
