How can I tell how far dilated I am
I'm 29 weeks pregnant & was wondering how I could check myself or my husband check to see how far dilated I am because my doc hasn't checked me yet & my baby's been very very low like he's pushing on my cervix already but I am not having contractions yet.

You can't check your own cervix and your husband can't check your cervix. I am a labor and delivery nurse and I had to go to school for years to learn how to properly check a cervix.

At 29 weeks there is no reason to be checked at this point anyway. As long as there are no contractions there is nothing to be concerned about. Yes, the baby may be dropping, but this isn't what causes cervical change, it's contractions that do that.

If a cervix is checked by an inexperienced person without proper sterile technique you run the risk of several complications. Two of which are infection to you and/or your baby and premature rupture of membranes (PROM). Please leave this to the experienced people. A cervix does not need to be checked prior to approximately 36 weeks depending on the OB/GYN's policy.
