What kind of water pipes go in the attic?
    Hi there!
I have a leak in my ceiling. This house is old and was "patched up" by the previous owners. My home warranty won't cover it because they say it has the wrong pipes in the attic. A company wants to charge me $975 to install the "correct" pipes. I don't know what "correct" is, nor do I know if $975 is fair... HELP!

Are you on a slab? It sounds like, at one time, the pipes were repaired by running them overhead and dropping down into the walls. These are acceptable repairs in my area. That's how we repipe our slab homes in my area. Back to you. Tom

What climate do you live in? Are the pipes ever exposed to freezing temps? If so, there is no pipe that is allowed in an unheated attic space.
