This makes no sense... abandonment IS REAL! For example my daughter who is 2 yrs old was left with her aunt, then a friend, then another friend, etc. Was suppose be for a night. This turned into almost a month. And 3 weeks before ANY ONE heard from the mother. I am the father. I was contacted by the friends and the Aunt. And they brought my daughter to me. They made me aware of what has been going on with my daughter. And told me how neglected my daughter has been. And how her mother left her, with NO PULL UPS NO CLOTHES, NO COAT, NO FOOD NOTHING. AND No one HEARD FROM HER FOR WEEKS. SO HOW IS THIS NOT ABONDONMENT?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread. Note: this was posted to the sticky note about Abandonment.

Second, please don't be vulgar, there is no call for that.

No one said abandonment is not real. But this is the Family Law forum and what matters here what the law says. And the law in almost all areas defines abandonment as leaving a child without ANY adult supervision. If you let us know your general locale we can tell you the law for it.

This is not what was done according to you. Therefore its not abandonment and the law will not prosecute for abandonment.

Again the question is what do you want? You appear to want custody of your child. Is she with you now? You said your daughter was brought to you. Have you gone to court for custody? You should have no problem getting temporary custody immediately and have it made permanent after the mother can't be contacted.

I can understand your ire, sir. I would feel the same way in your situation. But being angry at this site or me is totally misplaced. We're trying to help you get what you want by explaining what the law is. And what you have to do to get custody.

I do have to point out something else here. According to you your child was left with a relative and a succession of friends for almost a month. I have to ask what you were doing during that time. Did you make any attempt to see or contact your daughter or her mother? I ask, because a court will ask.
