Adoption and Bio Parent's Estate (after death)
After being adopted and your bio parent dies... without having a will... are you legally entitled to any of the estate?

    Not generally, no.

If they have signed away parental rights, there is absolutely no legal connection there at all.

    Hello tx:

Entitled to a share is one thing. Getting a share is something else. If the estate is substantial, hire a lawyer. You could get a piece.

Im actually asking this for my mother... when she was young.. her parents divorced and her mother's new husband adopted her and her two sisters. Well... several years went by and she wanted to live with her father.. so she did and he re-adopted her... whatever you want to call it... Now he has has just passed last month and had no will. Her two sisters (who were never.. re-adopted) are thinking that they are entitled to some of his estate... so anyway... just trying to get some input on this.
