Do waste plumbing (cast iron, hub and spigot) stub outs of the concrete slab require a pipe sleeve?
No! However we sleeve the copper pipes coming out of the slab with Armoflex. Regards, Tom
Depending where you are and what Code you fall under. In my area, we are required to wrap any sewer / vent pipe penetrating concrete pipe with approved white foam wrap with 50% overlap. Milo
I realize that all Milos code restrictions are there for what they perceive to be good reasons but I'd hate to build a home there. All those unnecessary <in my opinion) add ons. ( dedicated vents on everything, counter top air gaps, sleeving cast iron, etc. has just drive the cost of construction right through the roof. Although I understand they are loosening up a bit and allowing wet vents with approval approval. Here's just one example. We have had nothing but complaints about counter top air gaps failing yet , in all the tears, not a single complaint about high loop air gaps. Yet, high loops are outlawed. Sometimes I wonder what made them so cautious to start with. Perhaps Milo can pop back and shed some light on all of this. Milo, I'm not asking you to defend your code. Simply to explain it. Best regards, Tom
