What could be an average penanlty I may end up paying for speeding in Davidson County
    Hi All,

Recently I was pulled aside by Law enforcement officer for speeding in Davidson County. I was in a hurry to reach home, as it was really late and still had to drive another 30 - 40 minutes. Well that is not an excuse. Anyway, I was on 83mph against 65mph, when I was pulled and was given citation and advised me to appear in court. I spoke to couple of attorneys and the average cost that could incur to me is about USD 350 including the attorney fees. They would appear on behalf of me and would try to reduce the points. But given that, I'm ready to take the risk of increased premium and points on my driving, if I do not hire an attorney, how much would I end up paying in court, if I appear in person and plead guilty. Any guesstimates please.

    Thanks

My guess 300 to 500 in fine and court costs, but you could normally call or stop by the clerks office and see what the fine is for that amount.

There are often many ways a good attorney can get tickets dismissed even, challenge the POST records of the officer, challenge the testing and calibration of the radar equipment.

If that does not work, they try to plea a deal to a lower speed.

The things they do is many, Also they may see if you do a driver safety course they will get rid of points on record
