    Correct punctuation for a sentence?
My grandfather, who has been an educator for over 30 years, has always told me that your education is one thing that cannot be taken from you and therefore is valuable, should be taken seriously and not for granted.

Welcome to this beautiful site, first!

My grandfather, who has been an educator for over 30 years, has always told me, (remove that) "your education is one thing that cannot be taken from you and (you need to write it here) is, therefore, valuable, and should be taken seriously, and not for granted." (In Direct Speech)
