    Black Particles in water
I never had this problem before in the 10 years we've lived here, but in both toilets, in a pattern like it sprayed out when the toilets were beginning to flush, there were fine, black particles left on the inner side of the rim of the bowl, above the jets. People tell me, that, because of Irene's rain and then Lee's left over rain in the northeast, there has been more mold around. Could it be coming through the toilet jets?

Hi lcalhoun and welcome to The Plumbing Page on AMHD.
You piggybacked on a 6 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Before you post look in the upper left hand corner for the date..

That doesn't sound right to me either. And I
Live where hurricanes are common, Are the particles hard or soft> Are you on a pump or city water? Have you removed a aerator and checked the screen for particles? What have you done to check? If the problem's just in the toilets check the flappers and if it's throughout the house click back with more details. Regards, Topm

Pour some bleach in the tank and let it sit for about 15/30 min. Then agitate the water in the tank and flush. Flush the toilet several times while agitating the water this will cleanout any sediment. Also do what Speedball1 advised.
