Am breastfeeding, but could I be pregnant?
I had a c-section about 3mths ago afterwards I was bleeding for a few weeks. When it stopped I was still spotting every other day, my Doctor said it was because I was breastfeeding. The week before my 6 week check up I had my menstrual cycle and it lasted for about a week and a half, that was last month. Now this month I have not seen it as yet does this mean I am pregnant? I am not using any birth control but I am practicing safe sex.

    Yes, you could be pregnant.

You aren't using birth control but are practicing safe sex. I don't understand what that means. The rhythm method? Something else?

After your c-section, your body will take some time to settle down, to what you consider to be your normal cycle, hence the spotting every other day.
Your last menstrual cycle was particularly long, almost 2 months in one go,it maybe you will not have a menstrual cycle this month, until you body is completely back to normal, just perhaps spotting as you've had previously.

You say that you are not using birth control!Sex what ever way you dress it up, is not safe sex with out birth control,in which case:yes you could be pregnant.

Just to add: breastfeeding can be a very effective form of birth control (higher than even birth control pills), but that is when there is exclusive breastfeeding, and periods have not returned.

Also, once you start to get longer stretches between feeds, some women will resume ovulation. Others will enjoy good protection for several months.

I will guess that you are using rhythm for religious purposes - ?

Yes, you could be pregnant. I'm sure you are aware of the high percentage of pregnancies using the rhythm method. I do realize that many people feel, for religious purposes, that that is their only choice.

When do you next see your Doctor?

Your cycle could just be late (and could be made later because you are worried) or you could be pregnant.

Please come back and keep us informed.
