Have read your previous posts for Civics that crack but won't start but my Civic had a particular detail- even though I have tested everything, including main relay, IMC etc... One morning attempting to fix it by checking the timing it just started like nothing ever happened. I ran it fro 3 weeks with no problem, went on vacation for one week and in my return it cranked but id not start. Then I realized that was what triggered initial problem when I let it sit for a week prior to the initial problem. At all times fuel pump is humming when ignition is in... what do you make of it?

If the CEL comes on for 2 seconds and then goes out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), the problem is likely distributor related. Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil usually solves the problem. Bench testing ICMs and coils is virtually useless. Instead, replace them every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

I tried starting fluid and when I crank it, it did started for 2 secs. Which I assume there is spark, and injectors are opening. Still think is the ICM?

By the way ICM unit replaced and no luck- where else could it be?

Ran perfect> one day left for 2 weeks> upon my return it cranked but won't start> all tests came out good; there is spark, there is fuel, injectors noid test OK, replaced ICM, replaced main relay, replaced fuel pressure regulator> still no luck> gave it a rest and one magical day I cranked it to make new tests and it turned on like nothing ever happened>ran it for 3 weeks perfectly> let it sit for 2 weeks while on business and in my return it crank but did not start> on both incidents the common denominator is that when I sprayed start fluid through intake it WILL sluggishly initiate to start for 2 secs> meaning there has to be fuel related... remember it turned on and ran like nothing happened before... will you please solve the puzzle for me!

Did you replace your fuel filter also? Did you quality check the fuel that is in it for water? Did you check the rail pressure for your injectors ? Also did you clean the throttle body while it was running before ?

Install your new ICM and coil in a new genuine Honda distributor housing--other brands are suspect. The internal sensors (CKP, TDC, or CYL) may be shot. This assumes the CEL and fuel pump consistently come on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to Position II.

I already replaced the ICM and no luck> remember car suddenly ran for 3 weeks then quit once I let it set for 2 weeks. When I sprayed start fluid it does attempt to start meaning there is spark so ignition is not the problem. It has to be fuel related or something electrical that his failing... what is normal fuel pressure at fuel pump?
