My uncle owns a single family home in NY. Ten years a go he let a friend with personal problems stay in his finished basement. Over the years this guy has allowed the space to become unlivable. How can he get him out?

Its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can cause confusion, so I've moved your post to its own thread.
I'm curious though, your question was, word for word, almost the same as the question in the thread you posted to. Did you not read the answer to that question? It hasn't changed.
This person has established residence in your uncle's home. Therefore, he needs to be evicted according to local law. For NY, this means given him 30 days written notice to vacate. If he doesn't meet the deadline, then your uncle has to file for an eviction order in the local housing court. If this person still refuses to leave after the court issues an eviction order, he hires a sheriff to physically remove him.
