My husband and I are planning to visit his sister in the States, we will also be attending a wedding there. It's an American wedding and the bride said that it's a small wedding. I really don't know what it means. My wedding had 700 guests and it was a small wedding by Indian standards. The biggest wedding I went to had 8000 guests. So how should I dress? What colors should I wear? Please help since I'm very nervous.

There have been full black tie weddings with 10 guests and barbecues with 1000. The size of the wedding does not dictate the formality. When it doubt, just ask the bride or a member of her family what dress is appropriate.

You do want to generally avoid white at a wedding though, and keep the time of day in mind with colors. Black is fine at an evening wedding, but can look severe in the morning.

The best thing to wear would probably be not to bright and colourful but not to light!
A good dress to wear would be a pale pink dress with simple black high heels.
And curl the hair to make it suit the dress hope you have a good time

The time of day matters - evening wedding? Morning wedding? Ceremony and reception immediately following? I would wear colors that suit you, a dress that makes you feel confident and is also comfortable. Keep in mind that it's Fall (or perhaps Winter) in the US and spring/summer colors may not be appropriate.

Thank you all, it's an evening wedding in the summer. I'm planning to wear a gold saree that goes well with my wheatish complexion and minimal jewellery.
