And you waited 35 years?
What country or state would this be in?
Are you the mother, or the child? (I assume the mother)
I was young & stupid about some things (this being one of them). I am the mother, divorced in Arizona, I am in Virginia & he is in Georgia. My daughter is in a Masters/Phd program and is struggling financially. I am not able to help her financially, but if this was an option, I would definitely pursue it.
Did you go through the courts and get a child support award ?
If so then yes you can collect on it. You will need all your paperwork from when you were awarded child support. There may be interest involved in the payments also. Arizona has a 10% interest penalty on arrears.
Yes, I went through the courts. Would I need to get an attorney in Arizona since that was where we were divorced?
You can try here first and see if they can help you collect.
