    Settling an old foreclosure judgement
A family member just found out there was a judgement against her in a foreclosure she went through thirteen years ago. In the interim, she has bought and rented other homes and has built up stellar credit. She only found out through the process of trying to end a decade of renting by buying another home that this judgement exists. She was not notified and no attempts to collect were made. Does she have any legal options to lessen, remediate or renegotiate the judgement against her?

What does the judgment say? Simply that the mortgage is foreclosed, or that she also owes a deficiency in some amount? If it's the latter, chances are she was notified that the plaintiff sought a deficiency when she was notified of the foreclosure.

And, of course, if you have further questions we will need to know what state this is in.
