There is a movie where a small time business hustler goes to NY and starts a buzz aobut "widgets", ends up going public, cheating articles form NASA where I remember that they misspell "midgets" to "widgets" and gets tangled up in an SEC investigation.

This movie is so much like what is going on today with Facebook and other hot air sales, I wanted to see it again but have no idea to the name or actors, I saw it as a kid over 30 years ago.

OK, I believe you are looking for ""The Wheeler Dealers". It was released in the early 60's. The movie played at Radio City Music Hall in NYC for several months. Also, it was a color movie.

The primary stars were James Garner and Lee Remick.

Believe me it was color. I know because I saw the movie about 200 times. I was an usher at Radio City Music Hall when it opened there.
